Twisty pods, also called fusilli pods, are the twisted or spiral woody capsule of the Helicteres isora plant found across tropical Asia. These spiral pods are a great addition to natural bioactive enclosures and aquariums.  Their unique shape also makes them popular for art and craft projects and home decor.

Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use:

1. Boil: Boil the pods for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.

2. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached.

3. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.
