Arjuna Pods are derived from the Terminalia arjuna tree native to India. These lightweight, naturally textured pods offer both striking visual appeal and beneficial properties for a variety of applications.

    • Aquarium:  When properly prepared, they can release a moderate amount of tannin, promote biofilm, and they contribute to a natural environment which stimulates natural behaviors for fish and shrimp.  Arjuna pods are very lightweight, and they like to float.  A longer boil and soak may be required, or just let them float in your aquarium until they sink.

    • Bioactive Terrariums:  Provides hiding spots for isopods and springtails, serves as a food source for isopods and springtails, enriches the substrate by releasing nutrients as they break down, and encourages natural and instinctive behaviors such as forging and exploring.

    • Botanical Home Decor: Perfect as bowl fillers or integrated into larger natural arrangements, terrariums, and potpourri.

Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use:

  1. Boil: Boil the pods for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.

  2. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached.

  3. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.

Live animal flat-rate USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail shipping is $18. Live arrival guarantee with USPS if your temperature is 45F to 80F. If your temperature is outside this range, request hold for pick up in the text box above the add to cart button by typing the word HOLD. The box will be held at the post office that services your ZIP code. All boxes held for pick up are covered by the live arrival guarantee.

All shipping options include an insulated box, medical grade temperature control pack,.

We ship Monday through Wednesday only to minimize the risk of the live animals being delayed in possible harsh weather conditions over the weekend. Depending on the current temperatures, shipping may occur on Saturday so the isopods/springtails travel during ideal weather conditions.

*For USPS, if your temperature is under 45F or above 80F, the box must be held for pick up at your local hub or post office for the live arrival guarantee.  Even if you will be home to receive the package, these are live animals and they cannot survive extreme temperatures in a hot or cold delivery vehicle all day.  If your temps are below 40F, it is unsafe to ship live animals, and the animals will not be shipped until the temperature is above 40F in your area. Live arrival guaranteed for the count purchased.  It does not include any extras that may be sent.  Please read full shipping policy.

Hold for pick up can be requested by typing HOLD in text box located near the "quantity" button or in the notes at checkout.  Your order will be held for pick up at your local post office.
