Collembola Temperate White Springtails (Folsomia candida)

Also known as Collembola springtails, Temperate white springtails or common white springtails are a long-time cleanup crew member.  This is the most common springtail found in pet stores, and they were one of the original springtails available to be used in bioactive tanks and also used as micro feeders, but there are much better suited springtails that are more efficient cleaners available now.  We recommend researching our other springtails or chatting with us for assistance finding the best springtails that fit your needs. 

Folsomia candida need a humid damp environment, and they are a small springtail that spends the majority of their time within the soil.  The springtails come on a soil substrate so the culture can simply be placed on top of the substrate layer of a vivarium, and they will establish themselves in the habitat.  These springtails reproduce easily in the right conditions.  Folsomia candida are one of the very few springtails that will survive on charcoal (although we do not recommend using charcoal because in our experience, they produce far better on soil.)  This is an 8oz. culture on soil that contains 100+ springtails.
