P. scaber "Orange" also referred to as Giant Orange isopods or Spanish Orange isopods are very popular for bioactive vivariums.  Scaber Orange isopods were some of the first isopods we began with in 2011.  P. scaber Orange are a must for any isopod collection!  They are easy to care for and reproduce moderately.  They enjoy protein such as dried minnows and fish flakes and vegetable scraps such as carrots and squash.  The care for scaber isopods is the same for other common isopods.  Please see our blog and YouTube channel for care info and helpful tips.

Isopods will be shipped in a container of organic peat moss, sphagnum moss, and organic leaf litter.

A thick layer of leaf litter at all times is the key to a thriving isopod colony.

Live insects are shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays ONLY. Live arrival is only guaranteed with FedEx Overnight. We do not ship any live insects if your temperature is below 40F regardless of the shipping option you choose. Please read our full shipping policy.

FedEx Overnight is $49 and Live Arrival is Guaranteed if your temperature is 45F to 80F. If your temps are outside of this range, contact us for official FedEx hubs that the box can be held at for pick up. (FedEx Office, Walgreens, your local postal center, etc. are NOT official FedEx hubs.)

If your temperature is 40F to 45F or above 80F, we strongly recommend requesting that your box be held for pick up in the text box above the add to cart button by typing the word HOLD or YES.
