P. laevis is an active isopod that is an excellent isopod to add to your bioactive clean-up crew, and they are a good substitution for Giant Canyon isopods since Giant Canyon isopods are not permitted in some states.  They reproduce quickly, can tolerate a wide range of environments, are easy to keep, and they are not picky about food.  They do not get as large as Milkback or Dairy Cow isopods.  We provide all laevis with cuttlebone for calcium, and we supplemental feed them carrots, zucchini, squash, dried fish/shrimp, and fish food flakes.  Great beginner isopod.  Laevis isopods care is the same as other common isopods.  Please see our blog and YouTube channel for care guides and tips.

Isopods will be shipped in a container of organic peat moss, sphagnum moss, and organic leaf litter.

Live animal flat-rate USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail shipping is $18. **USPS is having significant delays and is losing boxes** Live arrival guarantee with USPS is ONLY if your temperature is 50F to 80F.

UPS 2-Day $30. Live arrival guarantee if your temps are 45F to 80F. Any supplies ordered in addition to the live animals may ship separately.

UPS Overnight Air $60. Live arrival guarantee if your temps are 45F to 80F. **NOTE: Supplies must be purchased separately or the UPS Overnight option will not be displayed if there is any product that is not a live animal in your cart.

All shipping options include an insulated box, medical grade temperature control pack,.

We ship Monday through Wednesday only to minimize the risk of the live animals being delayed in possible harsh weather conditions over the weekend.

*For USPS, if your temperature is under 50F or above 80F, the box must be held for pick up at your local hub or post office for the live arrival guarantee.  Even if you will be home to receive the package, these are live animals and they cannot survive extreme temperatures in a hot or cold delivery vehicle all day.  If your temps are below 40F, it is unsafe to ship live animals, and the animals will not be shipped until the temperature is above 40F in your area. Live arrival guaranteed for the count purchased.  It does not include any extras that may be sent.  Please read full shipping policy.

Hold for pick up can be requested by typing HOLD in text box located near the "quantity" button or in the notes at checkout.  Your order will be held for pick up at your local post office.
