Description

Trumpet pods, also known as Jequitiba pods, are thick seed pods that are the product of the Cariniana legalis tree. These pods are extremely dense and durable.

Source Location: Peru.
Size: 3 to 3.5 inches in long. The opening is approximately 0.5 inches to 0.75 inches in diameter.
100% Natural: Organically sourced and naturally dried, these pods are free from artificial chemicals, making them a safe and sustainable choice for various applications.
Highly Versatile:

Aquarium: When properly prepared, they can release a moderate amount of tannin, promote biofilm, and they provide unique hiding spots and contribute to a natural environment which stimulates natural behaviors for fish and shrimp and act as a spawning site for them as well. These pods are very sturdy.
Bioactive Terrariums: Provides hiding spots and a food source for isopods, and springtails, enriches the substrate by releasing nutrients as they break down, and encourages natural and instinctive behaviors such as forging and exploring.

Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use:

Boil: Boil the pods for at least 30 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.
Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached.
Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.

Live insects are shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays ONLY. Orders placed before Monday at 10:00 a.m. EST will ship on Monday. Orders placed from 10:00 a.m. EST Monday to 10:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, will ship on Tuesday. All orders placed after 10:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday will ship on Monday.

Live arrival is only guaranteed with FedEx Overnight. We do not ship any live insects if your temperature is below 40F regardless of the shipping option you choose. Please read our full shipping policy.

FedEx Overnight is $49 and Live Arrival is Guaranteed if your temperature is 45F to 80F. If your temps are outside of this range, contact us for official FedEx hubs that the box can be held at for pick up. (FedEx Office, Walgreens, your local postal center, etc. are NOT official FedEx hubs.)
