Add a variety of seed pods to your habitat with this pack which includes our most popular  seed pods.  These seed pods have a dual purpose of being natural decor in terrariums and habitats and isopods and springtails also enjoy using them as hides.  They are great botanicals for naturalistic terrariums, and they do hold up well in humid vivariums.    The photos illustrate the general size and shape of the pods you will receive.  This pack contains 3 cotton flower pods, 3 Pau Terra Estrela pods, 1 Bell Cup, 1 Lotus pod, 1 Talami pod, 1 urchin pod, and 3 Sweetgum pods.

    • Aquarium:  When properly prepared, they can release a moderate amount of tannin, promote biofilm, and they provide unique hiding spots and contribute to a natural environment which stimulates natural behaviors for fish and shrimp and act as a spawning site for them as well.  

    • Bioactive Terrariums:  Provides hiding spots and a food source for isopods, and springtails, provides hides for small reptiles and amphibians such as dart frogs, enriches the substrate by releasing nutrients as they break down, and encourages natural and instinctive behaviors such as forging and exploring.  Some bell cups can also hold water, and they also can be attached to the background and a plant can be potted in it for some unique decor.

    • Botanical Home Decor: Perfect as decorative pieces, bowl fillers, or integrated into larger natural arrangements, terrariums, and potpourri.

    • Craft & Art Projects: Their unique shape and texture inspire endless creative possibilities in wreaths, mixed media art, botanical art, and more.

Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use:

  1. Boil: Boil the pods for at least 30 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.  Removing any softened fruit pulp is also advised.

  2. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached.

  3. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.  

Please Note: As a natural product, each seed pod is unique and will vary in size, shape, and coloration. These pods are intended for decorative, craft, and aquarium/vivarium use only and are not for human consumption.

Live animal flat-rate USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail shipping is $18. Live arrival guarantee with USPS if your temperature is 45F to 80F. If your temperature is outside this range, request hold for pick up in the text box above the add to cart button by typing the word HOLD. The box will be held at the post office that services your ZIP code. All boxes held for pick up are covered by the live arrival guarantee.

All shipping options include an insulated box, medical grade temperature control pack,.

We ship Monday through Wednesday only to minimize the risk of the live animals being delayed in possible harsh weather conditions over the weekend. Depending on the current temperatures, shipping may occur on Saturday so the isopods/springtails travel during ideal weather conditions.

*For USPS, if your temperature is under 45F or above 80F, the box must be held for pick up at your local hub or post office for the live arrival guarantee.  Even if you will be home to receive the package, these are live animals and they cannot survive extreme temperatures in a hot or cold delivery vehicle all day.  If your temps are below 40F, it is unsafe to ship live animals, and the animals will not be shipped until the temperature is above 40F in your area. Live arrival guaranteed for the count purchased.  It does not include any extras that may be sent.  Please read full shipping policy.

Hold for pick up can be requested by typing HOLD in text box located near the "quantity" button or in the notes at checkout.  Your order will be held for pick up at your local post office.

Creates gorgeous natural playground for shrimps!

We LOVE this assortment of interesting seed pods! My shrimp are excited about all the delicious tastes and cool hiding spots, and the humans are loving the gorgeous visuals and natural looking tank floor. We highly recommend this pack for anyone wanting a very realistic environment for their aquariums!

Superior quality, packaging, and customer service.

Everything comes in really good condition. Isopods, springtails, seed pods. Even the substrate for the springtails I prefer to other sellers. It can be directly incorporated into the enclosure as opposed to trying to get springtails off of a clay puck. The level of customer service is what all companies should strive for. Can't recommend IHeartBugs enough.
